Olenergies welcomes REED – Societe Generale Group as a strategic investor to accelerate the decarbonization of energy uses through French lithium battery solutions
Stationary lithium batteries are emerging as key levers to ensure the stability and resilience of the power system. REED – Societe Generale Group has acquired an equity stake in Olenergies to support the industrial scale-up and commercial development of its French lithium battery solutions aimed at decarbonizing energy uses.
Paris, June 11, 2025 – To support the industrial and commercial development of Olenergies, REED – Societe Generale Group, a European investment company focused on creating synergies between industrial expertise, advanced technology, and infrastructure projects takes an equity stake in Olenergies. This investment is a demonstration of Reed’s commitment to supporting high-impact technology companies contributing to the environmental transition across energy, mobility, and infrastructure sectors.
Accelerating the energy transition with smart stationary lithium batteries
To respond to the growing the climate emergency, the energy transition must rely on two key levers: reducing emissions from carbon-intensive uses and enabling the large-scale deployment of renewable energy. Among the top priorities is replacing diesel generators, which remain widely used across the construction, events, and backup power industries despite their high carbon footprint and noise pollution.
At the same time, the development of solar and wind energies and electric mobility are deeply transforming power grids. This shift is driving increased demand for flexibility, storage capacity, and grid stability solutions.
In this context, stationary batteries play a crucial role: they absorb consumption peaks, smooth out production intermittency, provide grid stability services, and enhance the energy autonomy of sites. They are also essential for maximizing the value of solar energy by storing it at the time of generation for later use, such as during evening hours or peak pricing periods. This significantly boosts self- consumption, improves the profitability of photovoltaic systems, and reduces dependence on the public grid.
A high-performance, innovative technology made in France
Olenergies designs and manufactures lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries in France. These compact, cobalt-free, and high-performance systems are engineered to replace thermal generators, optimize solar usage, and support grid services. All batteries are operated through Olenergies’ proprietary digital platform, OlenPEPS.
Through OlenPEPS, each battery becomes an intelligent, connected, and remotely operated system capable of dynamically adapting to various use cases, extending lifespan and delivering optimized performance over 20 years. This unique offer combines industrial excellence, technological sovereignty, and environmental impact and positions Olenergies as a key player in the decarbonization of energy usage.
A strategic partnership to scale up
REED – Societe Generale Group’s investment will enable Olenergies to scale up its industrial operations and strengthen its commercial footprint in fast-growing markets such as construction decarbonization, grid support, and solar storage optimization. This strategic partnership will provide Olenergies with the financial, human, and industrial resources needed to:
- Industrialize the production of its compact, sustainable, and sovereign batteries through the implementation of two automated manufacturing lines in the Île-de-France region, in France.
- Accelerate commercial deployment, including third-party investment models, for its flagship product ranges: OlenBox, OlenPack, and OlenMove (Zero Emissions Generator).
- Strengthen R&D capabilities, particularly the development of its digital platform OlenPEPS, which enables smart, remote-controlled battery management—maximizing service life, operational performance, and value to the electrical grid.
- Expand internationally and scale its commercial reach abroad
Julien Le Guennec, Founder and CEO of Olenergies, stated:
"Having REED – Societe Generale Group by our side gives us the means to accelerate our impact: producing smart batteries at a larger scale in France to replace diesel generators, strengthen power grids, and unlock the full potential of solar energy. This strategic alliance brings our industrial ambitions to life and positions Olenergies as a key player of the energy transition."
Julien Touati, Managing Director at REED – Societe Generale Group, added:
"This investment in Olenergies represents a significant strategic opportunity to strengthen our position in the battery sector, a market that aligns closely with the activities of our broader portfolio. We are proud to support Olenergies, a company that has steadily built deep industrial and technological capabilities over the years. Its rare expertise in innovative stationary storage solutions is particularly valuable, as such systems will become increasingly essential to tomorrow’s electrical infrastructures. In addition to our capital investment, we will mobilise our network of expertise in renewable energies and electrical flexibility solutions to provide operational support for the acceleration of this company's growth and its infrastructure projects, which is emblematic of our strategy."
About Olenergies
Olenergies is an industrial startup founded in 2018, specializing in the design and manufacturing of compact, cobalt- free, and long-lasting lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries in the Île-de-France region. These batteries are managed by a proprietary digital platform and are tailored for a wide range of applications: replacing diesel generators, substituting lead-acid batteries, optimizing solar self-consumption, providing grid flexibility services, and powering OEM industrial equipment (such as autonomous robots, embedded systems, and marine drones). Olenergies stands out for its end-to-end control of the value chain – from battery cell to digital twin – and aims to become a leading European player in both stationary and onboard energy storage, supporting a cleaner, more resilient, and more sovereign energy future.
